The Big B... Baroda!!

Granted i haven't seen much of this place, and granted its a lovely town, my first impression of it was not exactly pleasant... I'd taken the flight from chennai and had to switch over at bombay, so i'd just seen both airports in the 2 hours preceding my arrival here, so one shouldn't be surprised that my first impulse on seeing the Baroda airport 'complex', was to laugh out loud!! I mean the entire building could have fitted inside departure termilnal 1b of one of Mumbai's airports... Which is of course not a bad thing. Its just that all my air travel in the last decade being to only the metro's, it really came as a surprise. A source of some consolation was that there were several MTV/V-TV DJ/VJ's on the flight with me, though i only noticed only the females till i reached baggage claims at baroda, where in the last 2 mins spotted Cyrus Broacha and a couple of other guys... But then, they're not exactly much to look at...

I've been here a couple of days now, seen the house(its pretty decent), the shops, malls, multiplexes and the usual array of coffee shops which appear to rival Bangalore in sheer number... Though the yuppie population seems to be present, it doesn't seem enough to justify quite so many baristas and McDonald's... A particular source of irritation is that i feel very conspicuous in these places... Everybody else seems to have a crowd to hang out with. The upside of it being that i actually worked up the courage to speak with (forgive the phraseology) a hot babe (name protected for privacy :D )... It wasn't, as i'd hoped, in a coffee day, but a crosswords is good enough right?? I mean, i'm not that smooth a talker that i can just march up to somebody and start talking. I need a point of discussion... And books are a lot better than the weather or some cheesy pick-up line...

well... thats day 1 and 2 for ya... more updates in the days to come... :D

Of course what i should be doing is studying for my GRE. But surely hanging around in crosswords and reading books improves my vocabulary, does it not?? :D

On a totally unrelated topic, there are a lot more um... hot babes here than i was expecting... It just goes to show that theres hope for rural india yet... :D

p.s. I know i'm gonna get screwed for all those "hot babes" i've strewn around... So i'll say in advance, "I didn't mean it!!"... Or at least, thats the official stance i've decided to take... :D :D
