Why am i blogging now of all times?

This question always hits me when i start, and i always have the answer. Tomorrow's the test, i'm supposed to be studying, they've cancelled all classes today(so that we can study) and so, i'm free! Believe it or not, thats the reason most of the time.

Exam time always puts me in a contemplative mood. And let me tell you, it doesn't help! I get all philosophical, sulk in some corner and feel like killing myself. So i invariably end up reading some book cos its the only way that i can work off my tension and not break down.

Anyway forget the gloomy stuff. The point of this blog is to announce that i'm an uncle four...no lemme see, five times over, as of today morning. Thats right, my niece was born today morning at 2.30 am in Bombay. I hope to god they're visiting chennai soon, cos i won't be going that side till June, and it kills me to think i won't see her before that.

I'm ecstatic. Seriously. I love kids, especially infants.

I don't know if its something to feel proud about, but I've got a way with kids. All you've got to do is leave the kid for 10 or 15 mins max with me and i'll have it laughing and playing regardless of how grumpy it was coming in (and in they end they have to prise the kid off me with a crowbar :) ). Its like with animals. The animals can sense when its someone they can trust and let them enter their personal space. its like that. Its not something i do, its just me. I've even tried sitting there and smiling at the kid for 5 mins and it worked. Of course, it has its downside too. Many a time i've had to babysit my cousins while the adults went out for a couple of hours. One of the more memorable incidents include cousins ranging in age from 2 to 14 (i was 15 at the time). I was so tired that, for one of the few times since i became a teenager, i actually went to sleep without my mom having to tell me!

Well, i better send my cousin an sms or give her a call. I haven't congratulated her yet! It feels funny even thinking about it. She seems so young(i mean, she's only like 6 or 7 years older than me), I can't belive that she's having her second kid. She still teases me about my girlfriends and stuff(not that i have any!)
Its really wierd. Sigh... I guess i'm getting old!

I think i've squeezed all i can from this topic for now. So I'd best be heading back to my room to study :-(
