I saw Dhoom2 today... yes, Bips was hot... and so was Aish. And hell i'll say it, Hrithik's dances are always pretty cool... But apart from the nice beat, my main emotion during the film was to laugh out loud... And not just at the "comic dialogue"... It was all i could do to keep from laughing out when for example, Hrithik, as a white statue, manipulated his little robot as it moved across the room and then proceeded to sprout an arm several feet long which it used to grab the diamond off the pedestal... all this while a couple of dozen guards roamed around that very damned diamond!! For God's sake!! Don't they ever look down, or at the object they're supposed to be guarding!! And this wasn't even one of the worst gaffs... I mean, i'm a fair guy. I realise that movies have to stretch logic a bit, otherwise its just everyday life on an incredibly large screen... But beyond a point, its just ludicrous... I mean it just gets in the way of the "cinema experience"... I'm so bothered by the absurd occurrences that i can't appreciate the rest of the actress... I mean the movie, the MOVIE...
Went to the Pavagadh fort yesterday. While its attraction to the locals may be the temple at the top of the mountain, tourists generally go there to see the remains of the champaner fort at the base and to experience the cable car ride to the top... While it may not be a particularly interesting experience to people who have been to say... jungfrau, its a pretty intense moment for the rest of us to see the long, long drop to the ground through the bottom of the cable car... What i found especially scary was not the ride but the presence of a short, narrow strip of metal mesh stretched out halfway between the cable and the ground... It appeared that the mesh was to act as a sort of net for that short stretch in case the cable car were to fall for any reason... Now the funny thing is that until that very thought passed through my head, such a possibility had not occurred to me... Close observers might therefore have seen me straighten up rather suddenly at that point of the ascent, and turn a rather fetching shade of puce, all this while concentrating very hard on the seat across from me... Well... now you know why... :)
Also, saw a movie this afternoon... Wasn't in the company of my parents though... :)
